    “Bits & Bytes”

    • The UPMC Senior Hurling Championship commenced last night when Celbridge beat Coill Dubh. The other three preliminary round fixtures will be played on Saturday in St. Conleth’s Park. Tickets are currently available through competing Clubs.
    • Adult Football Championships also commenced during the week. The focus this week is the Tom Cross Transport Junior Football Championship. Draft dates for the Joe Mallon Renault SFC & the Auld Shebeen Bar Athy IFC Preliminary Rounds have been circulated to Clubs. Those fixtures will be played next weekend.
    • The Annual Club Kildare Golf Classic is currently taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Kilkea Castle outside Castledermot. Many thanks to Boran Packaging who are today’s main sponsor and to all the teams who are partaking. A great day will no doubt be had by all.
    • The Croí Laighean Bord na nÓg U13 & U15 Hurling finals are taking place this weekend in Manguard Plus Hawkfield. Tickets are available through competing Clubs. Best of luck to all involved.
    • Kildare GAA Club Draw will take place in September & October this year. Each ticket bought will assist your Club with projects they are completing. Contact your local Club to purchase your ticket or alternatively you can purchase online https://member.clubforce.com/kildareclubdraw2021
    • The GAA & the RNLI are asking everyone to #RespectTheWater. If you are heading to the coast, riverbank or lake this weekend please be mindful of the Water Safety Tips. If you see anyone in trouble to dial 112 or 999 and ask for the Coast Guard.
    • Congratulations to Daniel Flynn who was this week voted GAA Player of the Week after his sterling performance last Sunday in the Leinster Final v Dublin. Congratulations also to Mark Dempsey and Kevin Flynn who were also named on the Team of the Week.
    • Get ready for another episode of the Kellogs GAA Cúl Camps show which will air next Monday night at 7:30pm on TG4. Experts will demonstrate skills, drills and more to your TV screens. Kildare GAA Cúl Camp Ambassador Jimmy Hyland will also be attending next week’s Cúl Camps across the County.
    • Croke Park issued a further Covid update re process for “Close Contacts” during the week. Adults and children over the age of 13 who are not displaying symptoms and who are designated as a close contact of a positive case DO NOT need to restrict their movements or be tested for Covid-19 if it is more than: 7 days after your 2nd Pfizer-BioNTech dose, 14 days after your 2nd Moderna dose, 14 days after the Janssen vaccine, 15 days after your 2nd AstraZeneca dose.
