On May 30th 2017, over 70 people came to The Osprey Hotel for an information evening titled, ‘Building the Kildare Hurling Pathway’. Delegates from 27 hurling clubs in the county gave their feedback on a range of hurling activities in the county. This was collected and collated by members of the sub-committee of Coiste Stiúrtha Iomána. Through this feedback and further meetings of smaller groups, the first steps towards our Action Plan 2018 were developed.
The plan for 2018 has been divided in to 3 strands; Club Hurling Development, Club/Schools Links, Building a Club Hurling Profile. The aim is for clubs to give an honest evaluation of where they see themselves within these specific areas and to set realistic, measurable targets for improvement for 2018.
The ambition of those who helped to design the Action Plan is for clubs to be active participants in the development, growth and promotion of hurling, not just within their own clubs, but for the whole county of Kildare.
There is incredible potential for hurling in Kildare, the hope is that through discussion, sharing ideas, and most importantly, taking action, that potential can be tapped into, creating a vibrant, nurturing environment in which hurling can flourish.
The Kildare Hurling Action Plan 2018, will be launched in the Osprey Hotel on Wednesday 24th of January at 7:45pm. On the night the Action Plan will be presented to clubs. Afterwards we will host a Panel Discussion to preview the 2018 Senior Hurling Championships. Guests on the night will include; Nickey Brennan, JJ Delaney, John Doran, Joe Quaid and Eamon O’Shea.
A night of information and entertainment is guaranteed for all! To register your attendance for this event, please RSVP to kildarehurlingpro@gmail.com.
