Larry Mc Cormack RIP
Leitrim, Formerly Rathangan, Leixlip, Kilcock and New York.
Kildare GAA County Board and the Kildare GAA family are deeply saddened to hear of the sad passing of Larry Mc Cormack.
Larry was an exceptional player. He excelled both as a back and a forward, winning Senior Football County Championships with his native Kilcock in 1955, 1957, 1958 and a Senior Leinster Championship in 1956.
Larry was also selected on an Ireland Team in 1956 and 1957 (now the All Stars).
He attended Knockbeg College, played with the school team and went on to play with Kildare County Minors. Larry also played with New York before he commenced his senior career with Kildare in 1952 and played with his county all through the fifties. On his retirement from the county scene, he continued to support Kildare and over many years Larry and Colette attended matches all over the country.
Larry also served as a selector at Senior County level and was also a member of The Kildare Supporters Club. He was a very astute observer of Gaelic football and had no problem expressing his opinions and views.
In the seventies, eighties and nineties, Larry resided in Leixlip and was very much involved in the Club.
He then moved on to reside in Drimcru, Rathangan and was a selector with the Rathangan Club.
Larry was a great Gael, a great County supporter and a great Clubman. Above all, he was a true gentleman.
Kildare GAA County Board extend their sincere condolences to Colette, Lorcan, Shona, Ciara, Sean, and Aoife on the sad passing of Larry.
Ar dheis de go raibh a anam.
