Kildare’s minor footballers were crowned Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Champions after an unforgettable victory over Meath in Portlaoise.
In a final packed with drama, the sides could not be separated after normal time or extra time, with Kildare eventually prevailing 5-3 in a tense penalty shootout.
The Lilywhites showed tremendous character throughout the contest, battling back when Meath looked set for victory. Substitute Logan Tennyson proved the hero, scoring crucial late scores to keep Kildare in the game, while Greg Kelly delivered an outstanding performance. Goalkeeper Joe Crotty also played a vital role, making a crucial save during the shootout.
Kildare then held their nerve from the penalty spot, converting all five attempts to secure a memorable Leinster title.
The victory is a testament to the talent, determination and resilience within this young Kildare squad, who now turn their attention to the All-Ireland series with confidence and momentum.
