The Manguard Plus Minor B and C Football Championship Finals took place over the weekend with Eadestown and Rathangan bringing home the silverware.
Eadestown caused something of an upset when defeating Division 2 league winners Round Towers in the B decider on Sunday as they won out on a 2-14 to 2-10 scoreline at the end of a cracking contest.
It was a thrilling end to end affair with Paidi Ryan and Evan Cahill exchanging goals for either side in the opening half before a second Towers goal via Charlie Mahony at the start of the second half gave the Kildare Town side a merited advantage.
A short time later Mahony received a red card for an off the ball incident and with Conor Morrin adding another goal for the winners and man of the match Max Sargent contributing a number of scores from play, the sky blues won out in the end.
On Friday night Rathangan celebrated victory in the C Final when they ran out eight point winners over a Suncroft side that included a number of players that also featured in the Intermediate Final a couple of days later.
Matthew Mulpeter proved to be the star of the show with his 2-4 tally setting the winners apart as his double of first half goals gave Rathangan an advantage that their opponents were unable to reel in.
Hugh Martin did get a goal back for Suncroft but Rathangan always maintained control and they ran out 2-11 to 1-6 victors come the final whistle.
