Congratulations to Ellistown after they were crowned first time winners of the National Electrical Wholesalers Intermediate A Football Championship on Sunday afternoon when defeating Nurney 0-12 to 0-4 in the decider at Kilcullen.
Despite winning two of their three games in the group stages of the championship, Ellistown lost out on score difference to Rathangan and Two Mile House but they bounced back in style with three wins on the trot over Kilcullen, Ballyteague and Nurney seeing them end the year with silverware.
Captained by former Kildare star Andrew McLoughlin, the 2024 junior champions did most of the damage in the first half with points from Pat Martin, Tadhg Watson and Harry Donnelly leaving Niall Carew’s team leading 0-8 to 0-4 at the interval.
The winners added on four more points in the second half through a Darragh Watson two pointer as well as Harry Donnelly and Tadhg Watson also splitting the posts in a four point success.
