UPMC Intermediate Hurling Championship- Weekend Recap

The Kildare Club Championship kicked into action at the weekend with three games taking place in the UPMC Intermediate Hurling Championship.

Last year’s beaten finalists Leixlip played Maynooth (2) in what proved to be the closest encounter of the weekend and the intermediate favourites were on the backfoot for a lot of the game with Daniel Hever and Harry Dunne getting the goals to give Maynooth the initiative.

Helped by 0-14 from Kildare player Darragh Melville, Leixlip eventually wore down the Moyglare Road outfit and they finished the stronger to win out by three points.

Elsewhere Naas had a comprehsensive victory over a Moorefield team that was shorn of the services of Muiris Curtin with Fionn Maher proving to be the star of the show as he scored a hat-trick for the winners.

Tom Boran got the other Naas goal as the county town made an impressive start to the campaign against a side that competed in the senior grade in 2025.

The final game of the weekend saw Broadford have 10 points to spare over St Laurence’s in Manguard Park.

An 11 point tally from dual star Josh O’Donoghue proved to be the catalyst to the ten point success as Broadford kicked off their campaign in winning fashion.
