Kildare GAA have been informed by David Herity that he has decided to step down as Kildare GAA Senior Hurling Manager after five years in charge.

David was at the helm when Kildare won two Christy Ring Cups, a Kehoe Cup, the Division 2B League title and when we reached a Division 2A Hurling League Final.

Kildare Hurling is in a much stronger place as a result of David Herity’s tenure. He was both professional and thorough in his approach to the role and he was always a pleasure to work with.

We would like to thank David for his time in Kildare and wish him the very best of luck in the future.

Statement from David Herity Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and express my gratitude to my dedicated backroom team(s) who have worked tirelessly for the betterment of Kildare hurling over the past 5 years. Their unwavering commitment and hard work have played a crucial role in our numerous achievements.

I would also like to extend my thanks to the County Board for their support throughout my time as the manager, especially Ger Donnelly, Mick Gorman, Colm Nolan, and John Burke. Their backing has been vital in enabling us to pursue our goals for Kildare hurling.

To the loyal Kildare fans, who have consistently shown up in the four corners of Ireland to support our hurlers, I want to express my appreciation for your dedication. Your encouragement has been a driving force behind our progress, and I am grateful for the support you have shown these players.

Lastly, to the players, you have created lasting memories and provided the people of Kildare with some remarkable moments from Conleths to Croker. Your drive and determination are a credit to your families, clubs and mentors that have put in endless years of work to help you on your journey. It has been an honour to work with such a talented and dedicated group of hurlers.

Although the decision to step down as the Kildare Senior Hurling Manager was difficult, I am proud of what we have achieved together, I believe that Kildare hurling has a promising future, and I have confidence that the foundation we have established will pave the way for further success.

Thank you all for your support,

David
