This week’s 3 page edition includes “Bits & Bytes” from the past week, a Quickfire question round with Kildare Senior Hurler Conor Kielty and Kildare Senior Footballer Shane O’Sullivan.

“Bits & Bytes”

• The Kildare Senior Hurling Team play Roscommon on Sunday in the fourth round of the Allianz Hurling League. The match throws-in at 2pm in Dr Hyde Park and the fixture will be streamed live via the Roscommon YouTube channel (link to follow). KFM will also have full commentary of the fixture.

• U20 Hurling Manager Pat English announced the panel for the upcoming Leinster Championship. Their campaign begins with an away fixture v Carlow on 29^th The full panel can be viewed on https://kildaregaa.ie/kildare-gaa-u20-hurling-panel/

• Manager Cyril Kevlihan and his Selectors have announced the Minor Football Squad ahead of the Leinster Championship. Their campaign begins on 26th June at home to Longford. Visit https://kildaregaa.ie/kildare-gaa-2021-minor-football-panel/ to view the panel.

• Draft fixtures for the Reserve Football Leagues were issued to Clubs during the week. A full schedule can be found on https://kildaregaa.ie/draft-fixtures-reserve-football-leagues/

• Kildare GAA in conjunction with the Mick Sammon Commemoration Committee have developed a Referee Award Scheme for referees at County and Club levels in the name of Michael Sammon, who refereed the tragic game that was ended by the Bloody Sunday shootings, 21 November 1920, when 14 people lost their lives and hundreds more were injured. • Annual Registration for the Player Injury Fund is now open. All Clubs are asked to review their teams within Foireann requiring cover and register accordingly. Registration and payment must be completed by August 20, 2021.

• 100 spectators will be permitted to attend GAA games from next Monday, June 7th. This number is in addition to players, team personnel, stewards or media attendees. It is hoped that up to 200 spectators will be permitted from July 5^th.

• Registrations for this summer’s Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps are flying in. Book now to avoid disappointment as places in each camp are limited due to Covid-19. Visit https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/ to secure your child’s entry.

• • Allianz Football League Promotion Play-Off: Kildare v Meath @ 14:00 in St. Conleth’s Park, Roscommon. Fixture will be broadcast live on GAA Go.

Quickfire Questions with Kildare Senior Footballer Shane O’Sullivan

Senior Inter County League Debut: This year v Cork in NFL.

Senior Inter County Championship Debut: First round v Carlow in the Minor Championship in 2017. Yet to make my senior championship debut.

Pre-Match Day Routine: Breakfast – 2 eggs, 2 turkey rashers and a bagel with a pint of water.

Pre match rituals: Small bit of mobility work/band work/stretching.

Toughest opponent: Keith Cribbin has probably been my toughest opponent. He’s tough and very experienced.

Team you most like to beat: Any of the local rivals.

Proudest Day: Winning the Club U21 Championship Final v Naas after extra time in 2018.

Toughest or most disappointing day: Losing to Laois in last year’s (2020) u20 Leinster Semi Final.

Biggest influence on your career: My dad or my uncle without a doubt.

Joker in the panel: Mark Donnellan.

Best Dressed: Mick O’Grady.

Worst Dressed: A very stylish group of men – I wouldn’t be able to pick out a lad that doesn’t dress well.

Player do you admire from another sport: Conor McGregor purely because of his mentality and his drive to succeed.

Manager from another sport do you admire: Jurgen Klopp because of his personality and his ability to achieve the goals he sets.

Club: Éire Óg Corra Choill

Senior Inter County League Debut: London 2020.

Senior Inter County Championship Debut: Hopefully this year.

Pre-Match Day Routine: Wake up early, have a good breakfast and hydrate well. When I arrive at the match I just do the typical stretches and activation work and then head out to the pitch for some pucks and chats.

Pre match rituals: N/A.

Toughest opponent: Evan Shefflin, DCU Freshers.

Describe yourself in three words: Big, beefy and beautiful.

Proudest Day: Winning the Christy Ring 2020.

Toughest or most disappointing day: Losing the All Ireland B Senior Schools Hurling Semi Final 2017.

Biggest influence on your career: Liam Dolan.

Best advice you were given: Always trust the back door.
