PRESS RELEASE – 24th March 2016

Partnership Announcement between CLG Cill Dara and Kildare Wicklow Education & Training Board (KWETB)

CLG Cill Dara is delighted to announce a partnership with Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB) for a two year period which will see KWETB becoming title partner of the Kildare Minor Football Championship.

With population figures suggesting that of a population of over 237,000 people in the county by next year and almost a quarter under the age of 14 years both CLG Cill Dara and KWETB see this partnership as being an ideal way of meeting the challenges of both organisations in meeting the needs of those they serve.

Chairman of CLG Cill Dara said “Kildare GAA and KWETB will be working towards the same aim of providing training and education programmes which will benefit our young people in their future working and sporting life.

We in Kildare GAA will be looking to enhance our current involvement in the education system in the county through our Coaching Programme and games provision to address, in a joint manner with KWETB, sporting, education and employment opportunities for our young people”

Sean Ashe, CEO of Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board in welcoming the partnership with CLG Cill Dara said: “With an increasing young population in Kildare, this partnership will help to deal with the increased demands for skills and training advancements in the county which will assist our young people in their working and personal life. Working and playing locally these young people will enhance clubs squads and will nurture healthy and sustainable communities”

The Kildare Minor Football Championship of 2015 resulting in a very exciting final between Moorefield and Clane and the indications are that the KWETB Kildare Minor Football Championship of 2016 will be an equally enjoyable and exciting affair. We hope too that it will help Brendan Hackett and his county minor squad defend their Leinster title and perhaps go one better in the coming year.
