Hawkfield Report
Phase 2 of the project has commenced with Contractors MDY Construction having started the building development on Tuesday July 27th. The build time on the project is approximately 6 months.
One of MDY’s main concerns is from a Health and Safety perspective and with probably a lot of public interest in the project they are extremely anxious that members of the public do not access the site during development. I have proposed that a designated couple of hours be set aside in the next few months for public viewing by interested GAA people and this has been agreed by the contractors, so I would ask the public to adhere to this request and we will keep you informed.
Clive Richardson Ltd, who developed the pitches will commence Slit Draining and sanding on the existing pitches next week, weather permitting, and will complete the construction of the fourth and final pitch over the coming weeks also.
There has been a constant maintenance of the existing pitches over the past few months and despite some unsettled weather the irrigation system (see photo) has continued to operate at full stretch to ensure the maximum amount of growth takes place. A weed control and fertilising programme will continue, as has happened over the past few months also.
