Kildare overcame a resilient Meath side on a 3-13 to 1-12 scoreline in Parnell Park, Dublin earlier today. Kildare trailed 1-7 to 0-7 at half time, all the scores coming from placed balls.
A goal by Tony Murphy ten minutes into the second half put the Lilies 1-9 to 1-7 in front but Meath came back stronger. It wasn't until Richie Hoban's long rang free dropped in over the line for a goal and his Ardclough clubmate Martin Fitzgerald raised another green flag inside a minute of each other in the final minutes could Kildare claim victory and look forward now to playing in div2a next year.
