The Ballymore captain is 21 year old Michael Stewart Byrne, a marketing student in DIT.

Michael has played for Ballymore from a very young age and has always been a great leader of every team he has been involved with.

His club honours are as follows:

  • U14 Division 5 League Winner – 2009

  • U16 Division 4 League Winner – 2010

  • U21 C Championship Winner – 2012 (with Oliver Plunketts)

  • Tommy Dowling Cup Winner – 2017

Michael has played on various Kildare teams throughout his football career, starting with the U12 development squad up to the U21 panel in 2015 and 2016. He was on the Kildare junior football team this year and also on the 2017 DIT Sigerson team.

The biggest influence in GAA for him has been James Kavanagh. Michael was only young when James played with Kildare and also won the Kildare and Leinster Intermediate championships with Ballymore in 2010 and this really inspired him.

Best wishes to Michael, the Ballymore Eustace team and management in tomorrow’s Tom Cross Junior Football Championship Final.
